Missing one or more teeth can not only impact your confidence in the appearance of your smile, but it can also damage your teeth and jaw. A gap in the teeth can cause the other teeth to shift out of alignment, as well as increase risk of gum disease and jaw bone deterioration. You may also find it more difficult to speak and chew properly. There are many options for replacing a missing tooth, but the most permanent choice and long-lasting choice is a dental implant. At Beyond Smiles, we now provide implant placement and restoration. Dr. Beckermeyer is dedicated to helping the Niles, MI and surrounding communities achieve healthy, functional smiles!

What is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a permanent restorative option for replacing a missing tooth. The implant is a metal post, similar to a screw, that is placed into the gums of the missing tooth, to replace the root. After the post is inserted, during the course of a few months, it will fuse into your jawbone, providing security and stability. At this time, we are able to restore the tooth. We connect an abutment to the metal post, and then we will top it with a custom-created crown.  The crown can be placed in just one visit using CEREC technology!

An implant is less likely to damage the jaw bone than bridge or dentures. Because implants involve one or multiple surgeries, we require patients to receive a comprehensive dental exam, usually including dental x-rays, as well as an individualized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs.
